the Perfect Determining the Best Length, Weight, Bat Barrel, Taper and Grip of Your Fastpitch Softball Bat Page 3 of 3 It is important to remember that Bat Speed, not bat size nor weight, drives the ball. Hence, Bat Speed and Bat Control are the two primary objectives when selecting a Fastpitch Softball Bat. Bat
Barrel and Balance In general, a longer barrel length increases the potential hitting surface ("sweet spot") and will directly increase good bat and ball contact. The Fastpitch Softball Bat Barrel standard is 2 3/4 inches. Note: Many players prefer a smaller barrel that lightens weight and provides more swing speed. You should also consider your hitting style. If you are a slap hitter, you will want a balanced Fastpitch Softball Bat. If you hit for power, then an end loaded bat will add distance and power
Some players like a narrower taper for the lighter weight and to rotate their wrists faster when hitting.
Rubber
grips absorb more of the shock when the ball is hit. Some bats come
with a cushioned grip to decrease the shock even more. Go to Page 1 - Selecting the Length of your Fastptich Softball Bat Go to Page 2 - Selecting the Weight of your Fastpitch Softball Bat Go back to Selecting the Perfect Fastpitch Softball Bat
