Fastpitch Softball Bats Evaluations/Reviews by Profesionals, Coaches and Players

Louisville Slugger

EXOGRID - FP84X Fastpitch Softball Bat

Manufacturer's Description of the
Louisville Slugger EXOGRID
- FP84X
Fastpitch Softball Bat

Power and Performance through Handle Stiffness and Strength

An Inside Look at Louisville Sluggers' Exogrid Technology

  • One-Piece Construction
The competition's two-piece designs result in weakness at the joint of the handle and barrel. Our one-piece construction gives you better performance.

  • Carbon Composite Inserts
Metal is trimmed in a grid pattern, then replaced with carbon composite inserts that are several times stronger and lighter than the metal it replaces.
  • Internal carbon composite Sleeve
    The heart of the Exogrid
is the carbon sleeve, which pro ides greater handle stiffness than aluminum alone erver could. Unidirectional fibers run the full length of the handle.
  • Exclusive Bi/FusionTM process
Using a combination of heat and extreme pressure, the sleeve, insets and metal wall are bonded to function as a single, solid unit.
  • Why bats that bend don't win.
The last thing you want at the moment of contact is for the bat handle to flex. When the handle flexes, the barrel can't. That reduces your trampoline effect. A stiff handle produces more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, greater performance.

The Coach's Review of the
Louisville Slugger EXOGRID
- FP84X
Fastpitch Softball Bat

Louisville Slugger is challenging the industry's trend of two-piece, flex bats with its Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X.

The Louisville Slugger premise is simple: Stiff is good. Stiffer is better!

As players become stronger, more are choosing stiff handle bats like the Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X. The concept is simple: Combine the stiff handle and strong material into a relatively low weight bat - and the Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X is relatively lightweight with its -11 drop. So strong players that choose this bat generally have exceptionally quick swings.

With stiffer bats, there is little margin for error - the sweet spots tend to be smaller and there is a bit more "stinging hands" when you don't hit the sweet spot. But a strong player is able to transfer the energy of a powerful swing with minimal loss, leaving it to the flexible barrel to launch the ball with the maximum trampoline effect.

It is especially critical with the Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X for you to swing it before you buy it. You must feel very comfortable with your ability to maximize the benefits of this stiff, one-piece Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X Fastpitch Softball Bat.

The Louisville Slugger Exogrid FP84X Features:
