The Coach's Review of the
Easton SCN6B (-10) / SCN7B (-9) STEALTH COMP CNT
Fastpitch Softball Bats

Stealth vs. Synergy? First, let's deal with the major difference between the Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT and the Easton SCN8B Synergy CNT is that the Synergy is a one piece design whereas the Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Bats use Easton's patented 2-piece ConneXion which acts like a hinge. The Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Bats have a bit more flex but is more subject to breaking.

Let's talk about the Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth Comp CNT itself - it clearly was one of the most popular Fastpitch Softball Bats in 2007. Easton uses their exclusive Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT) which is a very, very strong material. Unlike alloy that has the same strength and stiffness in all directions, composite fibers have very high strength and stiffness in the direction of the fibers but much lower strength and stiffness across the fibers. This allowed Easton to customize the bat barrel flex using exclusive patented design technologies, creating bigger (i.e., longer) sweet spots and maximum performance along the entire length of the barrel.

The CNT technology also enhances Easton's patented Opti-Flex composite handle technology, providing 2 times greater handle flex than aluminum.

The Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Bats generate very good maximum bat head speed with Easton's patented 2-piece ConneXion. Acting like a hinge, the ConneXion provides the most efficient energy transfer from the ultra-thin 29/32 inch handle to the barrel, resulting in maximum bat head whip for a quicker bat and more power through the hitting zone.

Finally, the Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Bats feel good in the batter's hands with its Pro-Tach cushioned grip.

Some things to consider - because of the stiffer CNT material, some players believe the Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Bats need a break-in period of about 200 hits before the performance of the bat is maximized.

The Easton SCN6B / SCN7B Stealth COMP CNT Features:

  • Two-piece Construction
  • Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT)
  • Single Wall Bat Design
  • Patented Extended Flex™ Design
  • Patented Opti-Flex™ CNT Composite Handle
  • Patented ConneXion™ Technology
  • Patented IMX™ - Integrated MatriX Technology
  • Evenly Balanced for Maximum Swing Speed
  • Ultra-Thin 29/32 inch Handle
  • Cushioned Grip
  • -10 Drop (length-to-weight ratio)

Important to know that Easton's Web Site states:

  1. Easton does not recommend that you use your bat in a batting cage as the rubber balls used in most commercial batting cages are harder and denser than a regular ball and add an increased amount of stress to your bat upon impact. If you do practice in a batting cage, use the bats provided by the cage. Save your bat for use in games and practices where leather covered balls are used. Note: Using your Easton bat in a batting cage will void your warranty.

  2. Easton suggests using your bat in temperatures above 60 degrees. Colder weather makes balls harder which may cause damage to your bat.
