The Coach's Review of the
COMBAT B1 Fastpitch Softball Bat

The Combat B1 is a midrange-priced, one-piece, 100% composite bat with an excellent feel when hitting. The Combat B1 uses Combat's Anisotropic Design Technology (ACT) which results in a soft barrel feel that causes minimal bat vibration and "hand sting".

With both -10 and -8 drops in longer bat lengths, the Combat B1 technology also is used to combine a stiffer handle with the soft barrel creating a nice "trampoline" effect for good performance.

However, the barrel lengths are very short reducing the size of the "sweet spot". The Combat B1 -10 drop bats, the barrel is 9.5" on the shortest length bat and 11.5" on the longest bat. On the Combat B1 -8 drop bats, the barrel length on the shortest bat is 11" and the 13" on the longest bat..

The Combat B1 is well balanced and has a nice grip - a great feel.

Bottom line: The Combat B1 with the short barrels should only be used by more skilled batters. That being said, it is a solid choice for older players - the Combat B1 only comes in 30" to 34" lengths. Average strength players should choose the -10 drop while the -8 drop fits stronger players.
